Films & Pilots

HELLO DARREN!

I was energized by our first meeting, and I look forward to continuing our conversation. Here are a few things that I’ve prepared for your review, and you are welcome to pass them along to others.

  • Three short-form pilots/proof of concepts that I produced (on zero budget) just for you. (Scroll down to watch.)
  • Three feature-length documentaries that I’ve produced over the past few years. (Scroll down to watch.)

For your convenience, you can also find links to documents you already have:

SPACE INVADERS – pilot

  • Docu-series featuring home arcades and the personalities who create them.
  • While shopping mall arcades are only a distant memory for kids of the 1980s, these now-adults are unearthing retro video games from storage units, warehouses, and barns to create their own home arcades. One game turns to two and then three, and the obsession often results in a space that evokes memories of childhood and the perfect place to entertain friends and family. From garages turned into game rooms with big TVs and corner tv wall mount 65 inch to fully-stocked luxury barcades in mansions, home arcades are invading neighborhoods across America.

I QUIT MY DAY JOB – pilot

  • Portable talk show hosted by David Trotter focused on creatives who have left the 9-5 to do something amazing.
  • For many, the cubicle has become a symbol of a soul-crushing existence, and the dream of living life on their own terms has motivated them to take action. Hundreds of thousands of people are leaving the workforce to pursue a passion that has captured their hearts. From solopreneurs to non-profit leaders to founders of conscious companies, these creatives are inspiring people to quit their day job and do something amazing.

THE GOOD LIFE – pilot

  • Portable talk show hosted by David Trotter featuring for-profit, non-profit, and cultural leaders for the way they seek to do good, feel good, and think good.
  • Everyone wants the ‘good life’, but the question is how to get it. Many successful people are finding the accumulation of money, power, or fame doesn’t quite add up, and there has to be something more. From business leaders to celebrities to self-help gurus, people are discovering practical ways to do good, feel good, and think good, and they’re motivating others to get off autopilot and experience the good life for themselves.

SET FREE POSSE: Jesus Freaks, Biker Gang, or Christian Cult? – documentary

  • Executive Producer and Director – David Trotter
  • While thousands point to Set Free Church as the starting point of their salvation, others readily call it a “cult” that ultimately gave birth to a “biker gang” known as the Set Free Soldiers. Founded in 1982 in Anaheim, California, the church quickly grew because of its unorthodox outreach style including rap, hip hop, low-riders, and a motorcycle club. Follow the rise and fall of the ministry through never-before-seen archive footage and 50+ current-day interviews with its ever-controversial founder and many at the center of this worldwide movement.
  • Currently seeking distribution.
  • Pre-release screening: Tuesday, July 11th (6-9pm) at Starlight Cinema City Theatres (Anaheim, CA) – tickets.

MOTHER INDIA: Life Through the Eyes of the Orphan – documentary

  • Executive Producer and Director – David Trotter
  • Narrator – Rebecca St. James (Grammy winner)
  • Mother India is a compelling documentary capturing the stories of abandoned and orphaned kids living in India. For one week, David and Shawn stepped into the lives of 25 boys and girls living alongside the railway station in the southern town of Tenali (Andhra Pradesh). With over 31 million orphans in India, the stories that emerge reflect the complexity of the issues and the challenge of rescuing kids from a life of begging and addiction. Find out what happens when these two friends eat, sleep, and play among this ‘family’ of street kids in an effort to experience life through their eyes. You’ll never be the same.
